about
~An independent release, Fire On The Hills is an expression of our flight or flight instincts when things get difficult. The idea was inspired by the imagery of the California wildfires, using fire and wind as a metaphor for impending destruction. However, believing your love has what it takes to overcome and outrun the danger is the optimistic magic of Fire On The Hills.
~This track was recorded, produced, and released in the height of the covid pandemic. Much of the instrumentation was recorded remotely and then pieced together by mix engineer, John Mansfield, and producer Jack Petruzzelli.
lyrics
Vegas-bound on a sunset song with a broken heart,
Lost and found on a window pane on a rainy day.
There is a place we've all been
between the battlefields of restless hearts.
No sign of open highway
just a familiar place to fall apart.
Fire's coming on these hills tonight,
let's pack our bags, say goodbye.
I can see you letting go of what we had
don't raise your flags.
We're moving on tonight...
Safe and sound from a long way down to a brand new start.
Turn around, see the world you've known,
how it's torn apart.
This is a place we've all been
before the rally cry of desperate hearts.
No sign of open highway,
just a familiar place to fall apart.
Fire's coming on these hills tonight,
let's pack our bags, say goodbye.
I can see you letting go of what we had
don't raise your flags.
We're moving on tonight.
I'm praying that these Santa Ana winds will take my pride,
blow it down the riverbank and leave it there to die.
But it's a long, long way and the winds they slow,
just like my weary heart,
with miles to go,
with miles to go....
Fire's coming on these hills tonight,
let's pack our bags, say goodbye.
I can see you letting go of what we had
don't raise your flags.
We're moving on tonight...
